Operation

The system is very simple to use. The rope bag is kept in the side pocket of the bunker pants. The system can be used on either the left hand or right hand side. This depends on which side the firefighters harness opens up on. The smaller carabineer is attached to the firefighters harness. The system works with most harness systems on the market including the Gemtor, Morning Pride, and Gut Belt. If the firefighter finds him or herself in a situation where flashover is imminent the system should be deployed. Once the firefighter locates a window they must reach into their pocket to find the large carabineer, clamp the carabineer onto an anchor point. An anchor point could be a large piece of furniture, a radiator, a tool or the windowsill. The firefighter then is able to climb out the window and lower him or herself down to safety. The advantage of this system is the simplicity. All you need to do is hook onto an anchor point and go out the window to safety.

Training

The operation section of this page explains the basic operation. For the system to be effective the firefighter must be trained on the system and practice deploying it until the firefighter feels comfortable with the use. Please contact your salesman from Haight Fire Equipment to schedule a training class.
